Halloy

Somme, France
Mentioned: 1916
Somme Sector

A small Somme village, today merged with neighboring Pernois into the single commune of Halloy-lès-Pernois. Reached August 28-29, 1916, after "the hardest [march] the Co'y has had": billeted at "a dirty little farm." Recalled unfavourably six weeks later when Robertson's unit reaches the much more comfortable billets at Pernois. The diary treats them as two distinct stops on two separate occasions.
