Capt. Robertson (probably Capt. Ross Robertson)
Fellow officer: not our Robertson, shared surname only
Mentioned: 1916 only
Comrades in the field A different officer named Robertson, sharing our diarist's surname by coincidence: see January 9, February 15, February 18, and July 16, 1916. Probably Captain Ross Robertson, who a McGill Daily obituary for his younger brother (2nd Lieut. Robert Ward Shepherd Robertson, killed in action) describes as wounded at Courcelette in September 1916: the same sector and stretch the diary itself covers in detail that autumn. The rank matches (the diary consistently says "Capt."), whereas the brother is only ever described as "2nd Lieut.," even at his death. Not confirmed with certainty: in particular, nothing ties Ross Robertson to the diary's earlier January and February 1916 mentions, well before Courcelette.
