Capt. Buchanan

Fellow officer (13th Battalion)
Mentioned: 1916 only
Comrades in the field

A Captain of the 13th Battalion: a different man from Col. Buchanan of the 3rd Brigade, who was killed that September. He arrived on April 29, 1916 to take over 'Taylor's job,' was 'arrested a couple of times' on May 4, went on leave from May 23, and had died by June 28, 1916: 'Poor old Capt. Buchanan cashed in. His seniority won't bother him now.' The diary distinguishes the two Buchanans by rank throughout. Yet another Buchanan (neither of these two) turns up among Robertson's fellow train passengers on August 4, 1918, and is left unlinked.
