Transit / Journey A town in the Nord department of northern France, about 11 km west-south-west of Poperinghe, near the Belgian border. Robertson's company spends its first night here on the march out of the Ypres sector on August 11, 1916 ("Arr’d Steenvoorde early afternoon. All pretty tired."). The march carries on the next day past Cassel toward Watten and Éperlecques.
