Mentioned: 1918
Vimy / Artois Sector A mining town in Hainaut, south-west of Mons (today part of the municipality of Colfontaine). On November 10, 1918, the day before the Armistice, a detachment of Robertson's unit reached it at 6.30 p.m. via Dours and Warquignies, and the unit's war diary says "Capt. A.M. Robertson, M.C. met the Unit on arrival" at 7.45 p.m. On November 11 the Armistice took effect at 11.00 while the detachment was here, and Robertson "returned to Unit H.Q." at 1.00 p.m. The unit's war diary, which he signed, is the only source; his own diary has no entries for November 10 or 11.
