Transit / Journey Repeatedly the subject of leave-planning chatter through the second half of 1917 ("I guess Paris will do for me this time") before Robertson actually goes, confirmed by his own account in a January 17, 1918 letter to Doris describing the trip and dating it to October: a solo visit he found "frightfully slow." He returns for a second, livelier leave in February 1918, directly recorded in the diary this time: two days in Paris with Bull, a tour of the Tuileries, Place de la Concorde, the Invalides and the Champs-Élysées, tea at Ciro's, the opera, and seats booked at the Gare de Lyon. The leave then went on to Nice, according to his March 16, 1918 letter to Doris.
