Cité Calonne
A mining district of Liévin, between Grenay and Liévin proper. Robertson's own sector this whole stretch is explicitly "between Loos & Souchez" (Feb 16), and Calonne sits right inside it, walking distance from his billet at Bully: he arranges a wiring party here on January 26, has dinner here on February 15, and gets an emergency call here on February 18 when frost-damaged communication trenches start collapsing. (These three mentions were originally, incorrectly, linked to Calonne-Ricouart, a town some 20km away near Bruay: corrected after the geography and the presence of communication trenches at Calonne itself made that identification impossible to sustain.) Passed through again on September 25, 1917, on the same tour that took in Maroc, Angres, and Cité de Caumont. Had its own WWI-era military cemetery, used by British troops from March 1916. Coordinates are sourced from Cimetière Nord (Calonne), a named point inside the same district, rather than an official center-point pin. A working-party schedule from January 20, 1917 in Robertson's papers settles it: parties muster at the "R.E. Dump, Calonne" for "Calonne Defences," inside the brigade's own front line. Robertson's own daily work tables for this sector survive among the family papers, headed "Calonne Section" and listing party after party sent out to clean and wire the front line and work on the Calonne defences.
