Fox (Lieut. C.J. Fox)

Fellow officer
Mentioned: 1918
Comrades in the field

A colleague in the same command structure Robertson's own reorganization lands him in: he "arranges things" with Fox before a shift (June 6), formally hands duties over to him two weeks later (June 22), and by July, Fox is trying to poach Robertson's own orderly, Murray, as an orderly room clerk (July 7). The unit's war diary names him Lieut. C.J. Fox, of the 1st Field Company, Canadian Engineers: he organised the unit at Gauchin-le-Gal on May 29 and commanded it until Robertson took over on June 7, and again in Robertson's absences (June 22 to July 10 and the August leave). He led the second bridging convoy at the Canal du Nord on September 27, took command of the unit from mid-November, was congratulated on his Military Cross on December 5, and was promoted Captain "vice" Robertson on February 2, 1919.
